Strange sound issue
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help.
The symptom is that if my radio is on in Position 1 or 2 (engine not started), and I subsequently start the engine, the active bending headlights go through their cycle and two seconds after that I hear static and the sound disappears (infotainment system still on and showing what's playing). If I turn the car engine off, open the door so the infotainment shuts down, and start the engine again, the sound is back. This all started after a pressure wash a month ago. Water got into my left headlight and shorted the active bending light control unit (found water in the headlight). Basically, when I started the car (radio was on), the headlights went through their cycle, and about two seconds after that, I heard static through the speakers after which there was no sound, and the headlight service warning came up. I have now changed the headlight control unit and cleared all the faults in VIDA. Have also had the battery unhooked for 20 minutes, however the same symptom is there and there are no errors in VIDA?!? Any ideas what else shorted out at the same time as the bending light control unit died? Why does this only happen if the radio was on before the engine was started? Thanks. |

Still stumped.
1. Took out amplifier, checked for water damage, cleaned connections. 2. Connected to VIDA and ran available software communication tests for the ICM/IHU, IAM and AUD unit. All results coming back as normal and all parameters are default. 3. No other errors in VIDA, even after reproducing the error. If it was a loose connection, I suspect the sound would cut out on bumpy road etc., but it doesn't. Only happens when listening to radio before starting the engine and can be reproduced every time. Unless anyone has any ideas, it'll be the dealer next to either reinstall or upgrade the infotainment software. |
