I'd say that VIDA isn't particularly intuitive for more advanced functions but then it is, after all, specialist software that Volvo technicians will (presumably) be trained to use (Clan might confirm this). But it's very useful and, together with the DICE interface, is invaluable for Volvos from 1998/9 on. Much better value (now) than a PPC reader (although the latter is quicker for clearing codes). People who have had installation issues may not have followed the installation requirements properly - you have to.
It can be rather slow and if you rush it, especially when starting up, you sometimes get errors. But do buy it, you won't regret it. Regards. |

Which VIDA do I need?
Hello gents, this might be an old thread but here's hoping someone can help. Which year/version of VIDA/DICE will be the best for my 2001 C70 Cabrio for fault finding the roof operations/functions and for calibrating?
The roof has developed a fault, fine for the first four stages but doesn't retract into the storage compartment; also the tension bow now does not close fully at one side so poor weather seal and I live in Wales and the wet season is not far off. Burgess |

You must have a laptop with the correct operating system for the Vida version you choose and of course a working Dice unit. I sell tested and working Dice units with Vida 2014d which needs Windows 7 Professional and have a 100% record. See my thread here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=253191

I shall have a laptop with win 7 pro OS by tomorrow. A couple more questions, will I be able to operate the roof opening and closing functions via the VIDA 2014D computer interface, and re-flash the settings in the roof control module? |

Not personally. They're amongst us on here though......
Be a shame not to have Dice and Vida too then. It's handy kit to have regardless.

Not all Dice are for gambling
Managed to obtain a copy of VIDA 2012A and a DiCE, and as dice are used for gambling; seen them the bay, saw one said to be a customer return not working low price ‘no returns'...sooo, I though lets see what's up with it.
No response to electronic probing, removing the ends and extracting the board found two ICs missing from one side, and the other almost devoid of a chip set and card holder. If I can find ICs the board might live if I can get this pig to take off. Last edited by burgess; Sep 4th, 2016 at 07:00. Reason: typo error wrong date |
