This is the problem of buying the dice unit off the internet, does it not work because of something I am doing or because it's broken.
Once I get a laptop sorted I am tempted to go the Chester d5 route then you know the unit worked at least once. The alternate garenteed route is pay Volvo£1200 for one. Paul. |

Hi cheshired5,
In the volvo vadis workshop repair manual, with regards to calibrating the soft top, it speaks of using the ‘Volvo Scan Tool' to re-flash the memory in roof module. Is the ‘Volvo Scan Tool' is just Volvo jargon for VIDA/DiCE, or is it another piece of kit all together? Perhaps a Volvo tech could shed light on this...please ;o) Also, is it possible to operate any other functions such as the boot, door locks, windows, etc via the VIDA/DiCE 2014D interface, if so, it may be possible to operate the roof also. I've had the local repair shop do a fault scan and result was a 'timing issue' |

Thanks for your quick response yet again cheshired5.
If it is only a timing issue, maybe I only need to correct mechanical positions in the storage compartment and if no need to replace any electrical components, in which case re-calibration will not be needed. So, as I will be able to operate doors, locks etc., will I be able to operate the roof via VIDA/DiCE? |

As far as re-calibration of the roof is concerned, the protocol is by to days standards quite old and much older than my radio controlled electric helicopter kit. The roof motors along with the pots and micro-switches function very much like RC servos do only more primitive.

Volvo V90 (1998) YV1KW9604W1047578
I would like to look at the Volvo specific codes in my Volvo V90 (1998). Would one of these Vida Dice kits do this for my car as it has OBD2 connector?

Pretty sure the diagnostics element won't be possible using Dice as it's for MY1999-2015 with some exceptions at either end of that range but the Vida program will have detailed technical specifications and a comprehensive parts catalogue and workshop manual for your V90.

Volvo V90 (1998) YV1KW9604W1047578
Which OBD2 unit would volvoforums users suggest I use to be able to diagnose the Volvo specific fault codes on my Volvo V90 (1998) YV1KW9604W1047578 and then clear them?
