Default Help with Spring part number

Hi there,

Just highlighting this to try and put this self leveling suspension project to bed.

Recently learnt that its not possible for a dealer to determine which spring matches up with nivomat shocks for my car using my vin number; even when I have the part number for the shocks. Dont get it but there it is.

They need the vin number of a D5 with nivomats to determine which spring to use.

Does anyone have a late model P3 D5 that could share their vin number or can provide the part number for their respective rear springs?

I'd offer to shout a few beers as a bride but I'm too far away to honor it.

The offer of a bride is compelling but I have 4C suspension and so I'll have to forgo the delights on offer!

Oh well, hopefully there is someone out there that can help.

Once this is sorted I will be uploading the information plus part numbers.

It will be useful for those that may want to do the same upgrade.

Will also be useful for those that want to convert back to the much cheaper standard suspension as I'll have part numbers to go either way.

Will the bride fetch me beers whilst I'm working in the garage?

you must have a dumb or untrained parts person there.. he needs the chassis type number , something like DD234HJ67 stamped on the chassis plate. Two of those digits are the spring type . 2 are the dampers Its all in his VIDA parts system catalogue .

what model and model year have you? Vin may help too .

Many dumb parts persons; they just can't be bothered down here is more to the point.

Apparently the self leveling suspension didn't come to Australia. Only standard and Four C. I'm told that my Vin number can't help. That I need to provide the Vin number from a similar model D5 model with self leveling suspension so they can trace the correct spring part number.

My spring code is 73. My shock code is 37.

They can tell me the shock to fit my car is 31302603 but they can't tell me what spring matches that shock . Beats me mate.

Yes, I'm a bit slow I know. Finally I get it. . Because you can't go back and edit posts the shame is there for eternity.

And Mr 37 RUBY, are you teasing me with that 2015 XC70 D5 of yours? Does it have self leveling suspension by chance?

No intentional tease from me Agrothe

Sorry but my vehicle has standard suspension, so I watch with interest.

FYI I tow an 1800kg caravan plus all the gubbins that her indoors crams into the car.

Barely sits down at the back....Springs and shocks are original with 73k miles on.

're emails can you read them on here but not send them? As a former parts man (not dumb though) I might be able to assist.

If by emails you mean private messages on here then yes I can receive them but can't reply at this stage. Hopefully Admin can sort it for me soon.
