Default Turbo problem upgrade\hybrid?

Hello. I've recently swapped my coupe for a Volvo v40tdi that is supposedly remapped. But it didn't feel so at all. So after doing some basic checks I spotted a tear in the turbo inlet pipe, chopped it off and placed back on to find it pulling a lot better.
How ever now I'm thinking, of maybe rebuilding into a hybrid or a bigger turbo. But I'm not quite sure how much bigger I can go On stock manifold etc.
If anyone has done that, or has any knowledge about it I would much apreciate it. Sorry if I'm making a post that already exists, after doing a quick search I couldn't find such a post.

What boost are you getting currently?
What boost will an upgrade give you?
Are you remapping also?

I don't actually know, I am relatively new to the technical side of cars.
Is there a way to see this with an obd2 or a boost gauge/controller.
And I'm hoping to get more boost + a new remap.

Plenty of very cheap OBDII plugins that will give you the information you want.
You'll also need to know what stock boost should be so some Volvo tech data too.

I have bought some software and an obd 2 tool from eBay. Will post appropriately once it arrives. In the mean time, a general question.
Does the life span of my turbo shortens after a remap for higher boost, and would a bigger turbo make the boost withought such implication if so?

If you ask anything to work towards the end of its limit or for longer than designed, you'll knacker it so buy carefully and consider the associated pipework and intercooler also.
If they aren't designed to hold the extra boost you want, they'll split and if the extra air can't be cooled sufficiently, you won't get the full performance gain.

Then a good question would be, can I simply put a performance intercooler from the petrol counterpart in my diesel?

Well - hybrid would be good option if u would lack power in low revs. I did upgrade my 2.5TDI with K14/K16 hybrid, but its not all u need. Hybrid turbo is mapped to 1.35Bars (for safe lifespan), custom DP 3', mild camshaft and bigger IC and nozzles *i took a go with 0.260 HFLOX. Took a while to set ECU correct - now pulls 203hp on wheels and 423Nm of torque. Well and its not 1.9TDI - its 2.5TDI *AEL/D5252T

If you want to blow out a headgasket, one good way is to increase the boost!

It's a much better idea to get the ECU MAP changed and in most cases it will be cheaper.

Well this is far too complicated for me too understand. I am still a beginner with things concerning the motor. However I will sit down to do some research of what I just read lol.
