On my XC60 I would like...
The XC60 is a fairly well equipped car, but there is doubtlessly scope for additional gadgets. What would people like to see on theirs that is not currently available, either as standard or as an option? This includes something that is available but not up to requirements. "I just take what is available" is also an acceptable response.
"Have your say", as they say. I will start with the issue I have been going on about recently. - In-car video/data recorder Volvo cars do have an integrated data recorder, but the data is not available to the owner. The issue here is a device recording video (preferably HD as is becoming increasing available) and other parameters such as G forces, speed and location. The best current accessories record to a micro-SD card and have PC software for reviewing recordings. They also have dangling cables and that is their drawback. Failing a properly integrated offering from Volvo, the requirement seems to be for a hard wired installation with hidden wiring. Over to you, ladies and gentlemen. Other suggestions please...

A number plate that can be rotated like in James Bond films at the flick of a switch, with a message for speed camers written on it.

Funnily enough, I bought a blue light for my Passion Red R-Design - to entertain our friends 5 year old twins! It's magnetic and sticks to the roof in true "Sweeney" style. Hasten to add I only use it on private property on their farm. Missile launchers are on the wish list.

Not really a gadget, but I would like the distance to the vehicle ahead in ACC to adjust automatically in relation to speed; the lower the speed, the shorter the distance.
I believe that in-car tyre pressure monitors will become mandatory on new cars soon. They are currently available as an after-market kit, but something built-in would be nice. I know heated windscreens have been discussed elsewhere. Could be a useful option, but visible elements might be a nuisance to some. Electronic parking brake in a more sensible position would be very welcome. Finally, the ability to connect to internet radio would be excellent. I believe some cars are now shipping without CD players, so internet connectivity seems a logical progression.

Different time intervals to the vehicle in front can be selected and shown in the display as 1-5 horizontal lines - the more lines the longer the time distance. One line corresponds to approximately 1 second, 5 lines approximately 2.5 seconds. The time interval is increased or decreased with the buttons / . At low speed, when the distances are short, the adaptive cruise control increases the time interval slightly. |

The parking brake to be moved to near the gearstick on the centre console, also reverse the action on it, pull up to apply and push down to release.
A lights on warning buzzer. A glass screen between the driver and rear seat passengers. Finally, teflon paint, never need washing then, just a quick hose off.
