Yet another aircon question
On my 98' S70, the aircon has suddenly started doing strange things.
After the car has been driving for a while, you can hear the aircon click on and then off (at about 1 second intervals) constantly. If I switch the aircon off then back on, it stops for a while then starts doing it again. When driving slowly whilst it is doing it, you can feel the load on the engine as it turns on and off etc. I had the system serviced and charged at the main dealer in May and a full service in July. On top of this, the aircon seems to be working as it is blowing very cold air into the car. Now I have booked it into the dealer but they are wanting to re gas the system before they can do anything with it which I am non too happy about as I only had it done a few months back. Does anybody have any clues on this? Thanks |

RE: Yet another aircon question
I wonder if the thermostat on the evaporator is malfunctioning. I would check that first or there might be a build up of resistance on a dry joint somewhere causing the clutch to pull in and out.

RE: Yet another aircon question
My (expensive) experience of a/c is that if the compressor is cycling quickly (ie more than 15sec at a time) then you are low on gas - unless you are in the middle of winter. Most Volvo a/c systems leak like sieves so you are not alone.
