Default Engine management light

Hello All,

Does anyone know how to reset the engine management light that appears on the dashboard ? My car was in at the garage last week for an mot and a couple of bits, and one of the mechanics started it from cold then turned it off; which is dosen't like, and would only re-start by taking off an air pipe and cranking it.

The engine mgmt light came on because of this pipe been disconnected. The car is running fine and passed it's mot so there are no problems and nothing is stored in the memory but they are having probs in clearing the light. Any suggestions before I go to volvo ???

Cheers,

Craig

Depends on what it is.

If its a V70, I've done mine several times different ways.

1 Disconnect battery and reconnect after a minute
drawback with this is that you loose all info on computer trips etc

2 Find main fuse link box near windscreen on nearside, remove lid and lift out fuse link nearest widscreen, leave out for minute and refit, this way I kept all the trip info.

850, not sure

Use diagnostic sockets behind RH headhamp.
Engine Management codes can be read/reset from connector A2
Use the fly lead from socket A connect to socket A2.
Ign. key at pos II.
Press button for 1 sec. Read first code.
Press button for one sec. again to read further codes, repeat
until first code read again.
To reset:
Hold button down for 5 sec and release, LED should light after
short delay. Before the LED goes off press button again for 5
sec. This should reset codes & warning light. Check
for codes again, press button for 1 sec, should see code
1-1-1, no faults.
