Default engine oil leak

Hi all,
One weak before travelling for holiday there my car had oil leak coming from between engine block and gear box assembly (there were oil drops on the front porch). I was told that it was likely due to poor rear crankshaft oil seal. Prior to this happened, I had topped up the oil close to max level on the dipstick.
Now back from holiday (spending 1000+ miles on the road), there was no more sign of leaking on the front porch , the oil level just slightly drop.......hmmm any idea what actually happen?

Did you spill any oil when you topped up your engine?

positively no....
I observed oil drops on the front porch (has to be engine oil as the colour is dark) everyday for one week prior the holiday.

Hi

Oil leaking from the turbo oil feed return also runs over the gearbox/engine block and can look like it's coming from there. This is a more common problem and costs pennies to fix

Toblerone,
I had had that experienced before. Confirm no leaking from turbo return pipeline.
Actually I already bought the oil seal and clutch kit as well, as I planning to replace the clutch during the removal of gearbox. I think the clutch never been replaced since new (the car done 185K miles already)
So i guess have to KIV and see if there is recurrence.
