Although I suspect subsequent model years will see improvements in the BHP output, software mapping etc..

I cant comment on the T8 as I haven't driven it.
True the D5 is a bit slower than the Q7 6.5 sec / RRS 6.8 sec / X5 7.7 sec to 62 mph . In the case of the X5 the difference is only 0.01 of a second. Would that even be noticed in most driving situations? Then there is the T8 which is faster.

Not that I know you personally, but you don't exactly strike me as one who would stay at an Ibis.

I tend to, if I can, avoid budget hotels and Swedish prisons!

I travel a lot to Sweden (being Swedish and all) and if you have ever driven there, you will know how empty the roads can be. Especially so in the middle of nowhere....it also helps that i use the Blitzer app and all cameras are well signposted. Another fact in Sweden is that the police do not have the resources to stand on the motorways....but in any case, one can not drive those kinds of speeds all the time and you will have an automatic ban once you do 31 km/h over the limit on motorways.
