Ah, but who was actually to blame?
Feel pretty sorry for the Renault victims if a badly driven Volvo ploughed in to them.

True ....but it does show the different build qualities of the 2 vehicles whoever was to blame.....however the Volvo is a taller and heavier vehicle than the Renault which I guess makes a considerable difference on impact....I know which car I would rather have been in .....although no accidents nice.

Could be the results of Volvo's real world crash analysis versus laboratory testing.

I remember hearing a talk some time ago about driving safety from an Institute of Advanced Motorists examiner who visited my company. His message was absolutely clear then - "The biggest single contributor to safety is the driver. He is also the biggest single contributor to danger."

He jokingly went on to suggest that instead of seatbelts, airbags and crumple zones, the only fitting he would insist on for all vehicles was a big rusty metal spike pointing out from the steering wheel hub towards the driver's chest. "You'd all drive a bit more sensibly with one of these facing you."

How stupid you need to be to stand watching someone fighting for his/her life and filming with your phone.

Standing in way, putting more pressure on the rescue staff trying to do there best....

Very distressing

I agree with your sentiments. What country is it in anyway where the fire brigade stand and watch as Joe Public extract the casualties? It's a horrible video you can see the poor blokes hand dangling.

I suspect though that the Renault has a side impact into a lamp post or pole, if you look at the deformation to the sill and roof.

There's no doubting Volvo are still the trend setters for car safety but there always will be no rules when it comes to crashes, nothing can be taken for granted, and in this example the age of the cars will also have been something to do with it.

Have a look at this, though most will have seen it already:

And some more very useful consumer testing :-)
