C70 Brake fluid reservoir cap

Hi
I have a 2011 C70. I removed the brake fluid reservoir cap to check the fluid level. Hard to describe but I noticed that the inside of the cap has a collapsed rubbery protrusion.
I have tried to research and read someone said they thought it was to adjust with movement of pressure in the system?
Not sure if this is right or not. But thought maybe I should replace the cap, but cant seem to see anyone listing them

So my questions please are
1. Is it right that I have this rubbery protrusion inside the cap
2. Are new caps available anywhere

As far as I'm aware, yes.
It's to aid sealing the reservoir.
I take it you have no fluid loss or issue with your brakes.....

The fluid was a little bit low. I topped it up but it didnt need much, so assume it was just wear on the pads that were replaced about a year ago I think.

So you dont think I need replace it? excuse my ignorance but I hadn't seen a cap like that before.

oh - on mine the rubber protrudes down- looks a bit weird - i will post a photo

That is because it has been neglected , the fluid had dropped a lot and not been checked, it draws the rubber diaphragm down with it , you need to top up to MAX and push the rubber back up into the cap ...

yes not a problem at all , just fold up the kinked folds and press it up flat again .

Sorry to labour on the point but when you say fold up the kinked folds, is it constructed in some form of concertina/accordian type folds? - Or do I just press it all up in to the lid as neatly as i can?

once you get the kinks out it will fold up neatly like a concertina :-)
