If someone gets that price, does anyone else know how much a pint of beer was???
That way we can compare the amount of beers it would cost to have bought an amazon, as against how many beers for say an S60. or it that a waste of time? |

Just out of interest,
Can anyone remember when petrol went up to £1 a gallon? I have vague memories of it being around '76 - '77. I dare say some can remember it being a lot cheaper too? Gordon |

When I started work (way back in '61!) I went to work on a Francis Barnett motorbike (which I still have, albeit dismantled!), petrol cost 4s-11d per gallon, which is roughly 25p, and I thought that was dear then.
However, as I was only earning £2-2s per week (about £2.10) that equated to about 8.5 gallons of petrol per week. With fuel now about £4.50 per gallon, is there anybody still only on 8 or 9 times that per week? Even on my meagre pension, I get more than £50 per week, so I never moan at the cost of fuel! Its the other costs (like Council Tax) that upset me.... Paul |
