All sounds as if it is coming along nicely. With regards the brake pipe: if it is the same red coppery colour as copper water pipe you would buy from the plumbers merchant it is copper. If it has a paler silvery sheen to it, it is copper nickel. Very distinct colour difference when alongside each other.

Go me!

Seriously though, only picked it up Tuesday night. Mechanically, it's sorted. Bodywork however is a bit meh! So i'll be mostly tinkering with that.

Nice to meet you all.

Rob.
Welcome to the group, Rob.

Nice to see another machine polished on here. 👍

They are good solid cars, that just keep on running.

Mine is a 2003 model with 104k on it.

Passed the MOT last month, with no advisories.

Well, I've run some wires through to the interior fusebox, including the brown/orange one. I put a couple more for the eventual inclusion of the grey plug, but that'll come later.

At the instrument cluster I did find a brown/orange wire installed. I checked for it very thoroughly in the loom under the seat but it's definitely not there. It runs into the fusebox but access is too difficult to see where it goes. My hunch is it goes nowhere. So I cut it, and connected it to my wire just installed. I replaced the instrument cluster and tested it.

Continuous tone. Rats. Turns out I was wrong, the cluster side isn't live, the bulb is grounded. I disconnected it and gave it 12v, and a double indicator lit up. This is even weirder, because I was expecting an orange caravan symbol, but I'll accept that instead. It's a pain in the arse though, because it means I need to invert the logic, and that means yet another relay, dammit!

Unless I can think of something else in the meantime. Bit disappointed though. I felt I was making real progress.

Default Machine Polished

Thanks Gary.
Mine is a Y reg (2000?) Estate with about 120k on the clock. Like I said, the bodywork is messy but I spent most of this morning hitting it with the clay bar and liquid canuba wax.
It's far from brilliant as the front bumper and roof are HEAVILY stone chipped but I have someone lined up to paint the bumper for me.
Oh, and someone at some point decided to side swipe the rear wing right by the petrol cap

Rob.

Sorry mate, no idea now.
As they sound great and Gatos had assumed they were premium, I also took it to be they were premium.

Maybe Clan could shed some light on the matter.

I'm really curious to find out what type of speakers there are and what speaker is what type...
I found this:
http://accessories.volvocars.com/Leg...0_audio_GB.pdf

According to that document there are Loudspeakers, Performance and Loudspekaers High performance.

Quote:
Complete loudspeaker kit for the more discerning listener.
The kit contains nine loudspeakers including grilles for cars
manufactured after W9920.
It consists of:
• Two loudspeakers with treble transducers for the dashboard.
• Two loudspeakers with mid-range transducers for the
dashboard.
• Two door-mounted loudspeakers.
• Two D-post loudspeakers.
• A bass box for the cargo compartment, integrated power
amplifier.
Mine fulfills all of those so I guess I've got high performance speakers? I will go through the speakers and write down their partnumber and check them with the document. I think it's pretty cool to make a guide for others to see what they have, and I hope others can contribute to what is what on this mysterious lol.
