Will a ford engine fit and work?
Hi,
Need to get a replacement engine for my 2.0d v50. D4204T engine. As the title states will a ford or equivalent engine fit and work? Also will an engine from an automatic work? Heard stories of different engines having a a slightly different crank for the torque converter to sit against. Just would rather confirm with people who may have done it before. Also mine has the “Y” shape inlet valve. Im also assuming a straight inlet valve can be swapped with the one on my engine? Cheers Connar Last edited by Connar92; Jun 9th, 2021 at 12:52. |

Ford only ever made 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 versions of this engine, all 2.0 were originally PSA until 2.0 production was set up in Volvo. The engines were all basically the same but the different brands developed the engines to meet their requirements so you may have to use parts from your old engine to make it work.
I can't tell you any more as I've not done this myself. John
