544 Rear Bumper advice
I need some help on the rear bumper assembly. The bumper was not on the car when I received it. Questions:
How close should the bumper be from the rear of the car when mounted to the brackets? How does the overrider bar mount to the inside of the trunk. I have the bracket but the angles are different between the bar and bracket. Does anyone have a picture of how it should look. Below are pics of my setup.

These bars are very much a USA spec item although with some persuasion I think they could be acquired at the time in Europe. This bar looks like a newer item when the chrome condition is compared although I see that the holes in the back panel look to have been there a while. Those holes certainly don't match the needs of this bar. The front fitting for it is also a bit out of kilter as you say. Does your bar have the tapped hole for the bolts up through the top of the over riders "bumperettes"? Looks as if at least one of those has a hole in the top. The bar fitting to the outer section looks to be a bit outside of the line of the bumper. That is probably wrong but not critical. A plain view of the bar on a car can be seen here, More pics available if you check Google images.
