Default V70 advice

Hi all, new to the forum & new to Volvo, my next car will be a v70, budget around £3500 & prefer petrol to diesel as i don't do the mileage. Seen a few V70 2.4's 2004/2005 around the 100,000 mile mark give or take with the auto box, any reliability problems/'issues with the auto? Cheers.

I had a 2.4 V70 Phase2 with auto box problem...wouldn't reverse uphill, fine on the level though.
Whatever you look at check everything works !!

Most auto box maladies seem to come from a lack of fluid changing. If looking at an auto check the gearbox performs as it should[smooth changes etc] and if there's no indication of a change of fluid in any paperwork then budget for a series of "sump dumps" so it is changed.

If you're looking for a phase 2 V70 then you might get even better advice if you post in the >2000 forum, this section is for V70 up to 1999. Cheers!

Thank you for the reply's, not set on a phase 2 by any means, if an earlier V70 come's my way with the mileage, condition & price then all's good.
