Thanks Ollie, glad you enjoyed reading my thread.

I have used Lanoguard on both my V70 and my 850 and so far it seems to do what it says on the tin (so to speak). You can read my 850 thread here. Lanoguard should be re-applied on an annual basis to ensure the correct protection but as the 850 is a summer car I’ve only done it once so far and it is still fine.

If you carefully look into the vent where the thermistor is on the CCM you should be able to see it with a wire connected to each side, if it is blown then you will see a break in the wire or the thermistor body.

Spare keys are only available from Volvo or a locksmith who is a registered with Volvo and had passed all Volvo security checks. There are very few around with the correct credentials though and finding one is nigh on impossible. The chap I used lives near me which was good for me and he does travel around Scotland but I think you might be a little out of his area. You can have your key cloned, again there are a few independents who can do this but again finding them is not easy. When I had my new key programmed I had all the missing keys removed from the system so anyone who still has one will not be able to start the car now.

I have Vida and a laptop, but lugging a laptop is not ideal so I keep iCarsoft Vol2 in the glovebox. It’s not as comprehensive as Vida, but it’s more than capable of coping with most faults the car will throw up and well worth the money

Hope this helps…

Saw my two girls yesterday for the first time in 6 weeks. Val on the left and Kära on the right have been tucked up in the dark since New Year whilst I was off to warmer climates enjoying the sun while everyone back home in Scotland was freezing their bits off...

Just back from visiting family in the highlands and the car ran like a dream, overtaking slower traffic on the A82 over Ranch Moor and through Glencoe was effortless.

It will be one year on 23rd Feb since I purchased the V70 and I reset the OBC before leaving Slough to drive home. I've now done 3420 miles and the OBC says my average fuel consumption for the last year is 30.2mpg. The last time I did a tank fill to the brim calculation was during a VOS meet to Glencoe in October, 255 miles travelled and 6.715 gallons (30.53 litres) of Shell V-Power and I averaged 37.97mpg.

The next time I fill up I think I'll reset the OBC and do another brim calculation to find out how much the OBC is out...

These cars like the open road - our 2.5T averages 16 mpg around town.

@ marcb I don't use mine for town driving, as much as I hate driving it, that's what my wife's car is for

Exactly 1 year ago yesterday since I bought the V70. It's been a lot of work, time and money sorting out the issues caused by ten years sitting unused in a garage and there are still a few small jobs I would like to do to keep it going for another 18 years.

Today I took a look under the bonnet today to check my levels and happy to say nothing required, while I was under there I had a feel under the turbo and it is bone dry. Happy days.

This is a list of most (I may have missed a few) of the faults I have rectified in the past 12 months

I gave Kära her first wash of 2024 today, she's safely and comfortably transported me up to the highlands twice and was covered in salt. Wheel arches were rinsed with particular attention paid to the strut towers.

Once clean I decided to go for a drive to dry her off and stopped for a few pics...

Out and about today in Kära and a couple of pics before she gets tucked away again. She's still looking good at over 18½ years old

Winter is officially over even though there is still a ground frost in the mornings putting my Gladioli in danger. The summer Thor wheels and Goodyear tyres are back on in anticipation of warmer times.

Never been refurbished and still on the original factory finish
