As per the thread in the V70 section, when I had mine removed and refitted to fix the leak, the fitter said no primer had been applied to the top side of the windscreen, resulting in the bonding failure. It seems to be such a widespread issue with these cars that it would seem that something is up with the production process.

Water leak
SO I had a new screen fitted, the old one was Volvo original. There was no sign of any adhesive along the whole length of the top. How on earth I was not flooded out, I will never know. So, next day the foot well was full of water again.
Consensus now is that the drains from the roof opening are blocked. Time will tell. The Volvo sealer never mentioned this, but they must know it happens. No more Volvos for me I think. BC |

Water ingress
Well, sorted at last.
The water drain from the roof was blocked. It seems that there is a small hole right in the front corner of the tray. As it is all black and difficult to get a good view, it is almost impossible to see. When I explained what was happening to the receptionist at my Volvo agent, he said he had been there 6 years, and had never seen anything like it. However it took the engineer about 15 mins to sort out, so I guess they never talk to each other. Easy to test. Park with the front a little lower than the back, and pour water into the try at the edge, it should pour out underneath just behind the front wheel, even siphoning the last bit out. If it takes more that a couple of seconds to drain, it is blocked. Hope that helps. BC |
