Default Checking Oil XC60 D4

Feel bit of a dipstick but cannot seem to check my oil level through computer, following instructions in manual but when bring up oil level sign nothing happens, got ignition on, left car for 15 minutes to cool down, on level ground, going back to dipstick quite sure there isn't one in engine compartment. Any advice be most welcome

What year. Is it a vea engine or 5 pot?

While I can get my dash guage to display oil level I do not trust it and weekly check the full sized dip stick I installed, but mines a 10 year old D5 XC70 and may not be relevant to your car..
