Default Diesel MPG?

Following on from my posting on another MPG thread, what do you get out of your S/V40 Diesels?
Mine's a 115bhp and I average 38-48ish with a 50/50 split of short and long distances. Official figures give an extra-urban of 65.7 which I have NEVER acheived. Combined is 52.3 and urban is 38.2.
On a recent journey from the midlands to cornwall with the cruise control set at 75mph and the fuel computer reset when I was in full swing I only managed 49mpg.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong somewhere? Or do I just have a rubber ankle?
How can I check?
P.S. my climate control is ALWAYS on.

I get an average of 47 from my 95bhp. Thats a shuffle in first gear down the M11 every morning mixed with a blast down the M2 to Canterbury most weekends.

It wouldn't surprise me if the official Volvo figures are inflated...

I run a 95bhp 1.9 direct injection diesel (2000) and consistently achieve 42-45 MPG, usually on mainly urban driving, but even hundreds of miles on 60-70 mph speed don't seem to lift economy up substantially...

Hmmm, Time to start another post then cos my fuel computer has just told me my average MPG is down to 37.4 with a full tank giving me a range of 420 miles, 250 of these miles being 60mph on A-roads cruising and the rest at town-driving speeds.

I get around 49-52 mpg out of mine, I don't have a trip computer but use This http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php
to work it out.

One thing I will say though is that Tesco diesel is definitely giving me problems in this cold weather. The car splutters and dies at 2500 revs like symptoms of a duff MAF but when I put other diesel in it like bp or texaco it feels like a different car and the problem goes away. Hmmm...

Hi i've got 2002 1.9 115bhp and i don't anywhere near these figures. Must be doing something wrong, i also get about 38 mostly around town, not too many runs.
Only had a couple of months and probably neads a good service. Anybody know anywhere near Northwich who are good but not expensive.

Let us know if you're MPG increases post-service. Mine's doing crap MPG at the moment, must be after mentioning those figures.
Good luck.

I've got the crappy 85hp one, and get between 42-45 mpg average. (after rebuilding the top end following a cambelt snap) It does get driven quite hard (with that engine you have to) however, so more is possible.

Interestingly I once filled up at Morrisons and it dropped to 39! Filled up at Esso the next time and back up to normal.
Morrisons diesel obviously doesn't have much diesel in it!

I get about 44-47 from mine, although it does seem to have the odd splutter every now and then.
