Default S40 diesel runaway after lack of power. Please help!!

Hi guys hoping someone can offer some advice, I'm not good with cars and I'm not sure what to do. My 2010 2.d S40 (93,333 mileage) had lack of power for a couple of weeks.
No warning lights, no noises, no smoke but as soon as engine warmed up it was like as if it was in limp mode.
It threw up code P2002 "Particulate Trap, bank 1 efficiency below threshold". From what I've read this could be DPF but there is no DPF on this vehicle. It's not been taken off, a car parts shop checked with their Volvo system and said there isnt one on this vehicle. I was thinking it could have been the 02 sensor?
Anyway, yesterday as the car is 500 yards from a garage that was going to take a better look all of a sudden the dreaded diesel runaway happens. Luckily it was in a safe place.
Revs were WAY up, loads of black smoke coming from under the bonnet until my partner stalled it to stop it. Got a tow from the garage, mechanic said he wouldn't touch it so that was that.
Today the car won't start, it's turning over and trying but nothing. There's white smoke from exhaust but no oil. Nothing to see under the bonnet.
Like I said I'm bad with cars, I've been googling for hours. I've read this mostly happens when turbo seals fail but would there be oil from the exhaust if this happens? There's no other code showing apart from the P2002 one.
At the moment I'm thinking of scrapping it - I'm assuming whatever it is is going to be costly, more than I'm willing to spend on the car but I guess I'm just checking with people who will have a better idea than me in case it's not as bad I think it is? There's hoping I know. Any advice you guys can offer is greatly appreciated

I can't help with the low power issues but you're correct about a runaway being the turbo seals, as in oil seals.
The seals when leaking feed oil into the turbo and into the engine, this is then burnt hence the oil smoke from the exhaust.

I've known people repair cars (non volvo) after a runaway with a new turbo, if that was the issue and the high rpms didn't do any damage then its possible a new turbo will get you back on the road.

Sounds like you need a garage willing to take a look and prepared to have a go at fixing it if they think it's salvageable.

Its no good guessing at a £2000 turbocharger job. it needs proper diagnosing. A high oil level in the sump will cause this too.
