Default Interior seats with dvd swap?

Got the chance to buy interior for my V70 with the dvd and screens in the headrests......

How easy is it to do so? And will I be able to get the dvd player to work as I assume the loom would be in my car already?

This is quite a big retro fit I think. I have RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) in mine and there's a DVD player (it's not connected to the main audio system in this way) in the armrest to add, as well as the monitors and all the cabling. It is though fairly independent of the car/audio system, so possible but... I have an additional audio control panel in the rear, the infrared headphones and the stupidly rare and expensive remote control that's needed to change input.

I would not assume the looms are there to be honest - It was a rare and expensive option in the V70 (more common in the XC90) and it's a lot of work to add for very little gain

You might be better off looking at hacking the monitors directly - but in all honesty two tablets on the back of each seat would offer more functions, quality and a lot less money?

We’ve got it in our ‘new’ V70, it was used once when I got the car in summer then the kids decided they prefer their iPads.

I wasn’t particularly looking for this option when I bought the car, but it just happened to be fitted to the one I bought.

Personally I think it’s had it’s day now iPads/tablets are reasonably inexpensive....

RSE became better integrated with the car's infotainment system once the Sensus was introduced in these models 2012.

I'm not buying the seats for the dvd player ect but the interior we have atm is past it. Seen a nice black set for the same money so thought it would be a good investment if I could get the screens running

If it's no more money it'd be worth a go. Sadly though as I said, a rare end expensive IR remote is needed to control the monitors, there's no other way to change input/settings/contrast etc. If they're already in the right setup/mode you'd be ok - but even powering them up requires the IR remote or the DVD unit to power them up. They don't remember previous power state (unlike the popup DVD in the dash) - So could be a nice project but I wouldnt expect them to work with at least some more money being spent on hardware!

This is the remote my 2008 system needs. They rarely come up for sale and are over £100 I believe last time I asked Volvo.
