A review on carwow tells me the T4 is a detuned T5 so shares it's woes in fuel consumption. It's less powerful but you don't see considerably better consumption. I can get between 25 and 31 about town so the T4 should be slightly better than that conditions dependant.
I think Volvo should dump these units and replace with more efficient versions. 48 hour trest drives are definitely the way forward gives you a chance to really see how the car perfoms as a daily for your needs. I was stupid enough to not pay suitable attention to the spec if I'd have seen the 40/40/20 rear split had been removed (which is a step back) I wouldn't have bought the car. Lesson learned.

hi there, mines a V90 T4 with 3200 miles. its averaging 35.1 in that time, which is mostly long trips at 70-75mph. have seen 40mpg for individual trips. local stuff pulls it down to 35 av, so its possibly doing 28-30 on the short journeys. average is about what I expected. the performance is pretty good too, certainly better than the diesel Passat I had before. that car averaged about 42mpg. cheers
