Exclamation V70 D2 2013 both front door locks sticking

Both front door locks have been becoming increasingly tight for some months and Poole Volvo have diagnosed that the lock release mechanism is sticking and not fully disengaging so that when the door handle is used after unlocking it is tight and requires a very firm pull to disengage and allow the door to open. They had greased the mechanism but this gave no improvement so now tell us we need new door locks.
The fact that it is happening on both front doors at the same time means it must be a common fault in the components.
A major concern to us is that there is a danger of becoming trapped inside the vehicle if the doors were locked from the inside and the release mechanism then completely stuck. Volvo Poole technicians have confirmed this to be a potential occurrence.
Due to this obvious serious safety issue we believe there is a case for Volvo to look into this and consider a safety driven recall to correct this serious fault.

We have contacted Volvo UK customer service, they have offered a small discount to help with the very expensive replacement costs for the door locks, but they have refused to consider a recall and to take any more responsibility for this serious safety issue.

Reporting this here to inform other Volvo owners to be aware of this serious safety concern.
Has anyone suffered a similar problem on their Volvo?

My handle can be hard to pull from the outside and sometimes sticks in the pulled out position. The internal lever is hard to pull too.

I'm sure I remember reading something about it being a common problem and the fix was to file a small amount from the handle, but I can't find it again, so starting to think it was a different model.

Maybe this thread will help find the other thread/answer. Mines a 2012 V70.
