Default Engine coolant temp sensor

I was going to replace the coolant temp sensor on my B230E to see if it will help with my idling problems, so I ordered one off Euro Car Parts website but it is the one that sends to the temperature gauge on the dash not the one for the ECU. I was just wondering if this also does send to the ECU or it the one for the ECU is under the inlet manifold at the back of the engine no 4? Where would I get one of those from? Also does anyone know what readings I should get using a multimeter across the terminals on cold and hot engines?

Cheers,

Richard
