Default TRW 940 steering rack rebuild kit

My TRW steering rack is knocking, does anyone know where you can buy a rebuild kit. I've struggled to find one?

Thanks!

Rebuild kits are only seal kits.

That's good to know, might just be easier to purchase one of your recommend racks actually.

Do you recondition them yourself or is it outsourced?

If rebuild kits are only seals, how does one rebuild a knocking rack then?

classicswede,

Out of interest,

Re the reconditioned TRW racks that you are able to supply.
Are they supplied with the rigid external pipes fitted?
In 2018 I had real problems fitting new pipes to my rack as the bends were critical to prevent them fouling on the car’s subframe.
I did locate a local firm who would outsource my rack to be refurbished but advised that this DID NOT include the external rigid pipes so I did not pursue that.

Racks are outsourced as a specialist job

We have new pipes made up and fitted as they always tend to be pitted

Thank you Classicswede.
Are the new pipes made up by the refurbisher or by someone else then fitted.
I’m being pedantic here because the local specialist firm who made up the pipes for me had three attempts before they managed to provide pipes that fitted and did not foul on the car’s subframe. It is only a matter of a few millimetres but that’s enough to cause a problem. The unions had to be shorter than standard and a very tight 180degree bend at the steering box end had to be exact. Each attempt looked good when fitted to the rack and the fouling problem only became apparent when installing the rack onto the car. Fortunately the firm was local as it meant trial fitting the rack then retuning it to them to try again. That would have been rather problematic if sending the rack back and forth by courier.
