S40 t4 Turbine glowing
To start with - everything works on OEM specs, I have only NA valves fitted + LPG system.
So far i have seen the exaust part glowing, once even going to bright red, but under load, a lot of. What gets me questioning is it normal is that I noticed that it is glowing red after cruising with 140km/h (~90mph) w/o even goind to more than 0,3bar boost. This was on LPG fuel, I have to check how it would be on petrol. So since I have LPG I am thinking - what about Catalytic converter check and maybe removal. I think It will have it's pros and cons, but if it really turn out to be the Converter ... Is it normal to goes that hot under mild driving, cruising even. I don't know about LPG, but on cars (not necessarily volvo) that run on petrol, i have known the cat to glow hot when the engine is being over fuelled !

So actual situation is the attached picture.
It happened after acceleration from 2nd to 4th up to 190km/h. Then around 1km driving within 170-180+ on 5th (noticed not smooth acceleration). Then 10km at highway driving with 140 on cruise control, and 300m to stop after the highway to check it - and was like the picture. After that city driving for 3km, and was fine, w/o any reddish colour. |
