Best XC60 year ?
I am considering buying a used XC 60 and am looking to find the best year for reliability, mileage and best engine.
Am also looking to avoid any years where they made dogs. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Mike Ottawa / Canada |

Now all glossy black. It takes away the contour of the lateral of the car. Somehow chromed frames underlined better the sideways aesthetic of the car. I have read a lot of comments on YouTube saying the same, in worldwide review videos of the latest and most recent MY of the XC60. And i have to agree. I also read here in this forum that shiny black inside and now outside in the latest MY, are a real strong headache. Specially outside. Frames get damaged and lose that shiny black, specially if people wash their cars in the automatic carwash machines. But because all the other brands adopted shiny black on the frames section, Volvo followed the fashionable way and adopted also. So if you really want a good Volvo XC60, look for one with 1 to 2 years. p.s.: so far so good with my car. no big problems that i remember. At the beginning a problem with the interior modem that was solved with a software update. Rather than that everything ok. Never had any major problem with engine or gearbox or suspension. Just fulfil diesel tank and hit the road. It's all that it takes. 😎👍

I also have a MY19 and am very happy with it. Agree with everything above and I would like to add that if you go for T8, the MY18 has a much smaller tank... so the only way to go is MY19.
... and of course both I and VOLVOL0VER are very subjective they are all very good cars, I guess the history of ownership is much more important than the MY

Bear in mind this is a UK based forum and most users are UK based including me! So standard fit options may be different in your country.
I also have a MY19, but absolutely hate chrome window surrounds. Mine is plain and one if the reasons I didn't order factory tints (got it done afterwards). I have 18 inch wheels, with hindsight, I would probably go 19 or 20 inch, bigger than that ruins the ride (I came from AMG line C Class and wanted softer ride, but 18 inch on XC60 is too soft) The other thing to consider is the seats. The R design and inscription seat look better with more lateral support, but there has been a lot if complaint about them in terms of comfort. Ensure you have a long test drive. MY20 cars have a few updates not available on MY19 such as curve speed adaptation (search the forum to see discussion on this). The final thing I would say, the colour of the car make a lot of difference to the looks. I have denim blue, again with hindsight I would go for something lighter. White or sand looks the best in my opinion, but obviously this is very subjective.
