Anyone driven the 2012 D5 215 manual yet?
Afternoon everyone,
As the title says really, has anyone had chance to drive the new 2012 D5 215 with a manual box? As you may have read, my 2010 D5 205 has spent many months off the road in the last 2 years, and has now developed another fault. I swear it's a lemon. Anyhow, from what I have read so far, the new 215 version seems to be different internally, as well as having 215 instead of 205. Would love to hear your thoughts. thank you in anticipation

Hi,
I have owned this model now for about 5 wks. Loving it! Done just over 1500 miles so far. Touch wood no faults as yet. Be going in for it's QA check soon. The DriveE stop/start didn't work this morn when i stopped on my way to work but has done every time so far and works very smoothly. Sure there's a technical reason why! Loving sounding engine and many people said it doesn't sound like a diesel at all, more a larger engined petrol car when you open it up. Also show's no signs of tiring at all as it moves up the rev range with loads of torque. Fire away with any more questions. I did put some pics on inside/out when I first got the car and these will be on this forum area somewhere. Cheers, Craig

Is it any quieter than your previous D5s? We had an S50 D5 2004 model a few years ago which was very quick but a bit gruff.

Hi,
I would say yes. But then it's also new vs my previous cars that had around 100k. When driving you wouldn't think it sounded like a diesel. BTW, stop/start didn't work the other day because it was in the middle of getting rid of the DPF build up. Wondered why there's been a couple of occasions when I've smelt burning from exhausts when I've parked car up. Resumed working next time I used the car. Clever stuff! Cheers, Craig

Picked up my XC70 SE Lux manual 4cs suspension yesterday. Very impressed There was 5 miles on clock when picked up and now some 250 miles and per trip computer averaging over 35mpg. Previous car was VW Touareg and thay only averaged 25 mpg over 20,000 miles.
Love the 4Cs in sport and advanced settings not keen on comfort but then personally I could not stand the XC70 ordinary suspension. Looking forward to trying it towing next week.

HI atlsoa - I note that you have 4C and also a towbar - have you towed with it yet? if so what weight trailer, what MPG and which 4C setting did you use. I am about to spec a new XC70 ES auto, I tow a 1700kgs caravan and wonder if 4C is any good for that and does it restrict the towball weight. Any feed back much appreciated.

The Four-C system controls the shock absorption, not the level of the car.
Automatic levelling can also be ordered, but it's either that or 4C, since both of these systems are incorporated in the shock absorbers, so they don't both fit at the same time. I specified mine mainly with towing in mind, so I have the levelling system. |
