Default C30 1.6D Fuel Consumption

Hi,

This is probably an old subject, but here goes anyway.

I recently bought a 2007 C30 with the 108HP 1.6 diesel engine, and have so far only managed to achieve 45 - 47 mpg on a mixture of urban and A-Road driving (450 miles to a tank). This seems rather disappointing, as the book says it should do 54 mpg on the urban cycle, so I should be getting at least 55o miles from a tank. I've checked brakes, tyres, and tracking.
What consumption rate should I really expect?
What other problems should I be checking for?

Many thanks for your help.

That's about what I get too. I did get 50 out of it once by never going over 50mph.

not too bad , set the tyre pressures to 38 psi and see the difference ... you haven't got the Driv e which had extensive modifications to the whole car as well as the engine and gearbox to aid economy .. Then later came the D2 which was even more economical
