Default 4 new tyres fitted - very happy

Just had 4 new Goodyear 18 inch tyres fitted at my local tyre fitters and they asked me why I’d bought them through Asda, when they could supply and fit them from stock.

I asked them how much the Goodyear Eagle F1s we’re fully fitted, balanced and old tyres destroyed, he told me £167 a tyre, I said I paid £110 per tyre from Asda, are you going to match their price? No way was the answer, but they have the contract to supply and fit the tyres for Asda, it’s a no brainier...

Just put 2 budget tyres on the V70 (17" wheels) £96 in total. Bought thru Mytyres and fitted at National. Ratings and reviews were good.

I used Asda Tyres recently too for some 19 inch BMW Pirellis.

Camskill were cheapest at 165 inc delivery, but not fitting./
Asda 187 fitted.
242 cheapest phoning local tyre places.

I was not going to pay over £100 more for 2 tyres. I mean that's almost a tank of fuel these days!

It’s personal choice, but I wont use budget tyres when doing high mileages, never found them economical over the distance, yes I know they've come a long way from the old days, but having bought cars with budget tyres on in the past, you notice the difference when you change to quality branded tyres.

I didn’t know Asda sold tyres. There’s one at the end of my street. It’s our corner shop. Never seen them on their web site. Is it only certain stores or on-line only?

As stated, go on line to Asda Tyres and you book on line having selected the tyres you want.

We live in the south west and they are cheaper than any other supplier down here, I suppose it gives you the option to either save money or, buy a better tyre within your budget, Asda saved me £220 on four tyres yesterday.

Default Thanks guys.

I’ ve just had a look. They don’t supply the tyres I require and those that they do are more expensive than the ones I do want. I want Kleber Quadraxer all season tyres which I have been using now for several years. I need two to replace the rear ones which still have legal tread but are 7 years old and beginning to crack up. Rear nearside took a puncture yesterday (sharp flint in a tread groove, presumably picked up when driving on a gravel road on a caravan site ). Deflated on the way home. Pulled into a lay-by about 4 miles from home to change wheel. Had all the necessary with me. To my disgust I could not get the Volvo side jack to locate in the rns jacking point. The hooked part of the jack head would not locate on the jacking point bar between the plates. It fitted the front jacking point without any bother but would not fit in the rear. I never use the side jack at home as I use a trolley jack under the diff. and then axle stands under the jacking points. I had to call out Mayday to jack the car up for me. Smashing young guy from the local CF Recovery arrived pronto and did the necessary. Have ordered two replacement Kleber from Oponeo (£54.00 each ) About to go out to check these jacking points and make sure that they are fit for purpose when it happens again.
Later:
Problem on both rear jacking points caused by a build up of flaking original underseal and scale reducing the space between the vertical plates which hold the horizontal bar. Front ones are ok. Crud chipped off. Twenty six years old steel still sound. Good old Volvo. Jack head now fits as it should. Area sprayed with Supertrol.
