Default oil filter change

This car has been fixed service wise !! The Volvo stamps must be false, tried to undo the oil filter had to use a 80cm pipe on the bar to unscrew it !! amazing that the threads are still intact, also it had a Mahle filter but is wasn't clicked in place !!! (unless when it is unscrewed the filter gets dislodged ? )

Not necessarily - when mine was first non-Volvo serviced @ 175K miles, it was obvious the filter holder (oddly a Mahle too) had never been taken off just getting it off was a nightmare it completely collapsed in the process - in the end I replaced the holder as well - given the strain put on the old one to get it off, I had little faith in the 10 year old plastic! - I think the oil had always been changed using a pump or a simple drain and re-fill - the filter was almost completely blocked with what looked like casting sand and oil breakdown products.

Default rear lower mounting

What a day !! just finished, started at 11am ! It was not possible to get a socket between the roll bar without using a crowbar and wooden wedges and the to cap it all it was NOT a 15mm bolt mine is 14mm, original mounts leaking fluid ? What a swine to relocate that bottom bolt !

Default What I did today.

Hi All.
Thought it was about time I posted something so here we go.

Went to local breakers at Dilton Marsh near Westbury Wilts. They have a 55 plate V70 relatively intact, an XC90 in the same condition and an early V70.
Took the alarm siren off the 55 plate as I have the common problem of alarm going off on the XC70.

Took a chance for a tenner and cut it open when I got home. Perfect inside and would have been ok to fit straight on.

I will replace the batteries though before sealing up.

Result in my book.

Realised I actually missed this forum so logged on.

Dropped off my newly-acquired refurbished Eudora alloys at the tyre place where they will be clad in Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on Monday, then Monday evening they will be on the T5.

Wondered what on earth I am going to do with 5 Orpheus wheels with almost new Pilot Sport 4s on...

Bought the wife's A3 some Avon ZV7s...

Ordered touch-up paint for Audi A3 (£5.95). Ordered touch -up paint for Volvo (£14.95!!). Nearly ordered touch-up paint for Rav4 but they wanted £16.80 and £16 delivery - where are they posting it from? Japan!?

Shot and wounded 2 rats, killed 1, let go 6....
