1) Did you reflow the solder on the big, square IC? How fine a point does ones iron need to be?
2) Every time I go to look up the contactless TPS online (Ebay) they're sold out and the picture is down. Do they drop into place or do you need to drill a hole?...or something else? 3) Killer Pontiac you got there. I bet it's the only one on High Street on a Saturday night. Pontiac's contribution to the mussel car and post mussel car era are often overlooked. I saw a rare green '69 Judge last weekend. I once sold a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro T-top for a neighbor. That "secretary's car" had the 3.8l V-6 and the 4L60E (duly venerated for its strength) automatic transmission. While similarly bodied, your car is the cat's meow! It's more t than a "hot bonnet". |

This is in hand, the existing key and the new one will be ok and all others will be erased from the cars memory. I asked that question for the reasons you suggest Al |

Didn't do it myself, but had the front subframe bushes replaced and new alignment done at 320K.
One bush was bad and made grinding noise under passenger feet. The steering response went way up. Also no loose play when accelerating/braking. And most of all, first time in my ownership the car doesn't have any audible suspension noises.

Found a service pack on eBay for £110 delivered; air, oil and fuel filters, sump plug washer and 6l of Volvo oil. Can't complain at that.
All done and dusted inside 30 minutes. Looked at front suspension for a possible gentle clonk, saw nothing. Looked at rear suspension; decided that everything below the floor has been regularly dipped in seawater for at least 38 years, gave up trying to find clonk, decided to cry over the state of the wishbones and ARB instead. Realigned the exhaust, (included in the Titanic appearance when it comes to rust), decided that was probably the cause of the clunk. Went home and put cider into freezer ready for Friday evening at the sofa bar. |

Year, model and mileage would've been the cherry on that sundae.

Bad I....
My dipped-in-corrosion-plus rear suspension is apparently bonded to my '05 prefacelift V70 with 146k miles on the clock. A staggeringly reliable wagon, all things considered. Tows my caravan, gets me to work, cools me down, warms me up and still slides beautifully controllably at 70. (Coming south off of J17 on the M4 is a lovely part of the world for silly cornering....) |
