Really interesting response from Volvo, intrigued to find out what they release in 2019!

Might have something to do with all their "this is not a phone" and "this is not a parcel" cryptic tweets! Maybe they're going to push the boundaries of "connected car" ?

But in the meantime I finished hard wiring mine tonight on a fuse towards the end of the box - the one for the overhead lights and display; works perfectly!

Email from Volvo Customer Services:
"Unfortunately Volvo do not approve the use of dash cams in our new models such as the V60. The reason for this as when testing we found that the dash cams were interfering with our safety systems.

You are of course welcome to use the Next base dash cam at your discretion.

We can however confirm that we are working on a solution for this which is due in 2019. "
This above comment from Volvo goes against what my dealer and a lot of other dealers/installers are saying. In the almost 10 years I have been on this forum, I cannot recall a single issue with a dashcam interference issue.

Yeah, personally I call BS....with WiFi off GPS is a passive device; and if you go for a reputable brand the EMI/RMI will be minimal if not zero.

I still fitted mine to the side rather than underneath as per advice in the Bolton technical literature that I found on another forum.

Yep, I can confirm that I have a BlackVue DR900s 2CH installed and have the from camera just below the Intellisafe module and I had had no interference/false alarms or warnings

I’m assuming if the great installs posted above work well, the same principal should stand for a new V90? Remove the passenger footwell tunnel panel and run a feed off the 12v plug? I’ve got a Roadhawk DC-2 that’s a great unit but want a neat install.

I'm assuming so. The panel comes off quite easily. Start at the front, and note it is under the plastic top, so it needs to go down and out. I found it very easy but had to put the passenger seat as far back as possible. The clips at the front are in hte lower part of the panel, but not at the bottom.

That’s great Wizzpop, many thanks. I’ll have a crack at that over the weekend. Did I read somewhere that the 12v is switched with the ignition? I don’t want to drain my battery! Then I just need to figure out which part of the 12v socket it pos and neg so I don’t fry my camera

The centre connector is positive, and you will see the wiring harness is colour coded. Blue/white to red, and black to black.

It is switched but remains on for a few minutes after the ignition is switched off.
