Engine pad fault in Vida
So I have had Vida connected to car today, came up with 2 faults
Engine pad fault(shows a pic of a vacuum pump). I have noticed 2 pipes hanging down in the engine bay blanked off with self tappers I assume these should be connected to the engine mounts but why would hey have been disconnected. Second fault is light around ignition switch. Steve |

The vacuum pump feeds vacuum to the engine mounts (2) via a solenoid valve to vary the stiffness of the mounts (soft at idle, harder when driving) and also via the turbo control valve to the turbo inlet guide vanes actuator. The turbo actuator is very important, the mounts less so. So if the mounts leak, the pipes may have been capped to maintain vacuum for the turbo actuator.
Change the engine mounts and reconnect everything, checking for leaks witha vacuum tester. The ignition switch light is trivial as long as the engine starts OK.

Before changing engine mounts, test the old mounts first with a vacuum gauge, just in case the previous owner never carried out a proper diagnostic on your existing mounts.

Should also mention the vacuum is fed to the brake servo too.

Thanks for the info guys.
Plugged in my WOW snooper today to see if it would work on the Volvo, strangely it wouldn’t read the engine ECU but it read everything else I have gone from having 2 faults using Vida to having 32 faults detected with snooper. Seats, radio, AC all have multiple faults. Made my eyes water lol. |
