Codes are unique to each radio.

Or buy a used HU850 with a known code. Most sellers should have the code, and if they don't several dealers can get the code for you.

They don't have codes, but do change between model years. If you get the wrong one then the display won't light up and the steering wheel controls won't work.

Your best chance of success is to get one from the same model year and, in my experience, they seem to work fine.

By the way what's wrong with your current HU?

I’ve just had my HU 850 repaired
Try Marcel at the following ‘mdconsultancy@btinternet.com’
He repaired my unit, turnaround time 2-3 days, cost £220 but no agro with codes or unknown replacement units etc, removed- repaired - replaced, works

If you've got the whole lot out together, there are clips along the side of the metal/wood effect surround. Prise them away gently and the surround should come off quite easily.

After that you can take the head unit out of the cage that holds it and the heating controls. There may be some screws in the back of if - can't remember - but it's easy after the surround is off.

BTW disconnect the battery before you unplug the climate unit or you'll get ABS errors that need to be reset with Vida.
