1. Clean-up and ACZP time! See: http://www.sw-em.com/anti_corrosive_paste.htm

Hi Ron,

Many thanks again - all fixed now & it was the fusebox. Still haven't had time to dig out the spare fusebox due to moving house, so due to time constraints, finally bought a new one (wasn't expensive) and all main beam is behaving properly now. Now that it's off the car, it's much easier to see how foul the old one looks.....

Btw, what's the best way to clean up the male spade connectors on the wiring? Somewhere I have a small brass wire brush - is something like that any good?

Cheers,

Paul

Small brass wire brush = suede shoe cleaner! Does the job perfectly!

When I pull the headlamp flasher stalk, with the ignition on, I sometimes hear the relay click, and sometimes not, but the lights never flash. The beams work fine when using the foot-operated dipswitch. Any thoughts?

If the relay is ok, then the problem is probably a faulty connection in the black plastic wiring connector block at the front of the LH inner wing. Have you unplugged it recently? If so, sometimes not all the terminals slot together fully when it is reconnected.

This is one of the reasons I have just switched over to blade fuses, wired in a load of separate circuits, added extra relays and re-bunf all the wiring. Pain in the butt but gratifying.
