Happened when I first started to go to our daughters, did it when we left there, and twice when I went to my brothers, the second time it travelled around 10 feet before it stalled. Have to put the car in park for it to start again, the stop/start has always worked as it should.

A quick update.
Took the car in the other day, Wednesday I think it was, and of course, it performed beautifully! No codes either! So they want it in for a couple of days to see if they can get it to stall. Going to have a V40 cross country T3, hopefully, to see if that's okay for Mrs S as she fancies one of those next time. The XC60 is nearly 2.5 years old and we usually start looking about now, she was hoping the new XC40 would have been out by now but it won't be till next year as the XC60 is out in July, bummer!

My S90 stalled yesterday whilst i was waiting for traffic to clear, was slowly moving forward and it abruptly stalled. Had to put it in park and start it back up again... hope it doesn't happen again.

I'm hearing of this issue more.
A family members car does the same. Booked in for diagnostics at a Volvo dealer. Told no codes so nothing can be done. This to me is a programming issue. The car is telling itself to shutdown in certain circumstances so there won't be any DTC's because the vehicle knew it was going to happen. To give an example on this: Park in a shopping centre car park, feather the throttle as if you are pulling out of a space with limited view. The car will stall. Do the same with the start/stop turned off and it will not stall. Dealer/Volvo answer: put your foot down more. My reply: What a stupid answer. In a place with limited view in close proximity to other vehicles and pedestrians the last thing people should be doing is accelerating hard. Hopefully Volvo will have a fix when more cases are seen and reported. |

This is exactly the issue I had.
When I found out that the diesel fuel filter hadn't been changed when it should have been, I had it changed and have not had the problems since. It is recommended to be changed on every even service. |

I have an s60 and mines been in and out of Volvo for about 1 yr with this they even have a video of this as it happen on start up I’ve caught it several times! The power arrow moves quickly up and down, the revs drop not quite cutting out, They have changed all the relevant filters etc. it’s still happening, and they say until they see it happen they can’t do anything further. My car is coming to the end of its warranty and has it’s first MOT the 14th but I’m concerned it could be something more serious and will get a huge bill when whatever is wrong actually does go. Any advice would be great.
