Ive a 2WD R Design and the front Scorpion Verde tyres lasted 40000 miles, they had some damage by that point, but were still over 2mm overall.

I replaced these with Scorpion Zero M&S and these are frankly **** in the dry inducing all manner of extra understeer.

The rear Verde’s still at about 4mm at 50,000 miles

So Pirelli Scorpion Verde are OEM, they arent expensive (we tore one on the Evoque at 800 miles...) so ideal.

They’re OK in winter too, but thats not their forte, and we only get a real winter every 5 years or so.

Factory conti on my r design fwd were awful in snow so ow have Nokia’s SUV3 proper winters for winter and will keep the contis for summer better mpg less noise, when they need replacing (hopefully not for a good while) not sure what to go for, more conti or scorpions? I’ll get one more season from the Nokia’s I think then it will be new winter tyres (bought used)

Why not swap the fronts and rears?

The FWD XC60 does seem very "tyre sensitive". I hated the factory fit Conti's on mine, they lasted to 48k (but I did rotate them a few times) when it was then shod with Scorpion Verde All Season and it was like a new car again - with only 20% of the torque steer.

A slight exaggeration, but it is certainly true that Michelin CC is marketed as a summer tyre with winter capabilities (it does have the 'snowflake' symbol). The test reports I referenced earlier bear this out. Overall the Michelin CC often scores higher than the Nokian Weatherproof, but for snow it does perform worse. It depends what you want. I need the best snow performance without the hassle of swapping to true winters each season, so I went Nokian. On my second set now (I am high mileage). They are also a little cheaper the the Michelins.

Its going back in 10 days, if I was keeping it I would have swapped them, the Zero M&S was good in the winter to be fair, but is poor in warm/damp or dry conditions.

It's looking like a straight fight between the Nokian Weatherproof and Michelin CC, going to try to hang on for a bit to change all 4 tyres at the same time thus not mixing summer and all season tyres. Currently have Pirelli Rossi's which are not great, they were also factory fitted on my previous car (an alfa) on which they were also poor. Can you indicate what mileage you can anticipate on the fronts?

Nokian fronts did 30k on on each lifetime. Rears did 60k.
