V70 on Gumtree (Not mine)

Quite a nice looking car (not that I'm wanting to buy one). But I do like looking at what's out there and for how much.

The vendor really would have done a better job by saying whereabouts in the country s/he is!

Looks like it has already gone. So what variant of a v70 was it?

It was Ph1 "Classic" in silver.

And it looked quite good! And had my preferred interior with velour seats (not so slippery and less likely to 'part at the seams').

So any temptation has now been removed!

Same model as our 'V' reg., 'CTA', but that is dark green with beige leather. I'm not over keen on silver cars myself, but when one is buying at that price point, condition trumps colour every time. Significantly, as you say, it did look a nice car.

Like you, I also prefer velour. Our last 745 had them, and they were excellent. All of the V70s that we looked at had leather, and we felt that was insufficient reason to reject an otherwise suitable car. Although I freely admit that it does look slightly tatty, it does not detract from the car in any material way.

Like you, I'm not particularly fond of silver cars. When I used to have a company car (a Fraud Focus which was replaced every six months) though, I got what I was given.

Then, coz of my position in the company (details too boring to go into) and a very good relationship with the guy who controlled the fleet, I could, virtually, change my car whenever I wanted and choose from whatever was 'in stock' - and sometimes, he would tell me if there were something I might like come into stock... especially if it had a higher-grade trim etc.

It was all great because I could also go for colours that showed off a polish properly (my 'position' sort of dictated that my car should look very clean and tidy all the time).

I retired and both the Volvos I owned... not at the same time (a V70 Ph1 'Classic'and a 53 plate C70 convertible) were dark blue. To me, they were the best colour ever for showing off a good polish.
