Over four journeys it took 83 minutes to update from the USB drive.
The On-Call app gives youo the ability to measure the time over multiple journeys.

Just for clarification:
This thread started regarding the sensus Navigation 2010. I.e. The one without a globe on the centre console. In order to be able to update it's maps in the last few years you had to buy special software from Volvo that allowed you to download updates via USB (like you can in cars with the later 2013 sensus connect with the globe on the console). HOWEVER, the map updates for the upgraded 2010 sensus (without Globe) are NOT the same map updates as those for the post 2013 systems (with Globe) published last week. If your car does not have the globe on the dash then I doubt this latest update will work on your car. Note: it looks like the updates for the post 2013 systems are published about every six months while the 2010 system had an upgrade back in (around) April 2018 and two years before that! So you might not get another update for that system before 2020! |

Mine completed today 18 days after the dealership carried out the software update which converted the car from CD to USB updates. My commute is 1 hour per day, plus I have been sitting in the car most lunchtimes for 30 minutes. I drove to Wales and back yesterday and noticed that the final hour was counting down far quicker than the previous ones, so maybe the previous post by 844PHW is correct and short journeys are the problem. Judging by the other posts here my experience is very different to theirs so I would be interested to hear whether others who have had the car converted have had similar problems. My car is showing Software version 1210 Map version 30.18.03 Map Market Europe. A conservative estimate for the time taken to download the update would be about 30 hours driving time.

Another upgrade successful
FWIW I got software on the V70 I bought in Sept upgraded today. It was at 2011 version before and was horrible. Yellow routes are now the green I was used on the previous XC70, at last I have destinations and not itineraries, the centre console NAV button produces a menu at last, and so on. Even the entertainment software's behaviour seems to have changed and has fixed a couple of odd quirks it had before (like always showing the USB/IPOD/AUX/ETC menu for a few seconds whenever switching to Media from NAV - now it just goes straight to showing the current track, again, like it should).
One thing bugging me - iPod was set to random when I left the car at dealer. Played an album today and wanted to go back to random - cannot find that menu/option anywhere at all. No combination of Exits or OKs or scrolls gets me there. I must be missing something - can't recall how it was set previously, either. Now, off to find the links for downloading new maps, and adding some MyPOIs now the thing has been updated at last.... |

If you hold down the fav key, I cant remember off hand. I think its the hash symbol bottom left on the numpad, you should be able to set that to shuffle to get it back.
At least that's how I do it, not sure of if there is a 'correct' way, |

Hmm. Not familiar with a FAV key - will go explore tomorrow. Thanks very much for the tip.
Also - noticed that car no longer tells me map and software version installed. It's greyed out. Used to tell me - but not now. Just says "current version installed" which is wrong because although the software has been updated (presumably to 1100 - but how can I tell now) the dealer told me they did not have time to update the maps - not that I expected them to - so whilst it claims to be have 'latest version' in 'map and software version', I know it does not. Maybe when I install the updated map it will decide to tell me these things. Now to hunt down a 32gb USB stick... |
