Information
  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way
  • AOL Customers: Make sure you check the 'Remember me' check box otherwise the AOL system may log you out during the session. This is a known issue with AOL.
  • AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net users. Forum owners such as us are finding that AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net are blocking a lot of email generated from forums. This may mean your registration activation and other emails will not get to you, or they may appear in your spam mailbox

Man that guy must have had some serious safety equipment on board. I’m sure he didn’t give a t**s whether the track was open to-day or not, just glad to still be here I guess.

what surprised me was that the chute automatically came out while the after burners were still running

i wasn't there myself but they didn't even stop the event after the crash, they sent out the jet quad & Russel Grant in the warm up area while they put out the fire at the finish line

Noticed the chute Ped might be a safety thing associated with the failure and maybe the govs didn't want to panic the spectators hence the continuation of the meeting, maybe?

Its not as easy as "the show must go on", in the event of an accident there are procedures they have to follow, one of which is closing the track & making access for any emergency vehicles that may need to get to the scene (even the Fire Force crew weren't allowed onto the strip). If there is any chance the accident could be fatal the event is cancelled so the track & any equipment which may have contributed to the accident is sealed off for the police to investigate.
