On my old 850 I used a 50:50 mix of Linseed Oil & Essence d'Terebenthine (sp) as reccomended on the French Volvo forum. Worked a treat, needed re-treating every 6 months.
Not sure if the Essence d'Terebenthine is available in UK tho'? Its off the shelf here, lol

I used boiled linseed oil without thinners on mine. It worked very well but it was only a few weeks ago so I don't know how well it will last.

No need to boil , apparently the essence d'Terebenthine makes it 'last longer', according to those on the French forum, as said it worked well for me .

I have to say I am very impressed initially. Coverage is much more even than the regular detailing choices which failed to mask the zebra-esque striping and uneven fading. The Würth has managed to bring it all back to an even, factory looking colour which is exactly what I was looking for. It also doesn't have that horribly glossy wet look most detailing products impart. I can't, however, comment on durability or protection levels (i.e. beading of water etc) as its only been on for 9 hours at this point and the only weather we've had has been frost.
As an update to this the Würth treatment has now completely faded, leaving me with exactly what I had before. 6 months durability for 20mins of work is definitely quite something. I will say I didn't apply any other protectant over the Würth at all, something like CarPro PERL or 303 Aerospace with UV protectants would probably have extended that quite significantly.

Can anyone recommend a spray paint that is a good match for the grey bumper tops? Previous owner had the bumper tops painted and the colour match and texture is great but it is starting to peel in a couple of places.

Thanks.

I recommend you remove the paint from the bumper tops first, then apply the Wurth. It will be worth the effort. If the paint isn't too thick it can be removed with T-cut, or rub it down first and then try. I managed to remove my old paint with T-cut, but it took a few hours to do the front bumper. The worth grey colour is a near perfect grey original match and when applied well using a damp sponge, doesn't show streak marks.

Missed this thread when originally posted last year.

How useful was your furry friend? Mine (who is identical) just sits on the bonnet or roof overnight surveying the street and leaves dirty paw marks. Usually just after I have washed and polished!

essence d'Terebenthine = turpentine = white spirit
It's just used to thin the linseed oil as required to make it easier to apply.

Smooth peanut butter or peanut oil works but the dogs and cats like licking your bumpers after that.

Heat gun best but be careful. Don't heat up small areas at a time.
