Yes, quite, "Tried every combination" doesn't sound right to me.
When I did the same job (with the genuine Volvo kit) the plugs went into the sockets, the fuses went into the fuseboard and the install worked. Watching with interest... Cheers Dave PS TruckBus - you could pop over and give him a hand... |

Seriously?
Post 5 indicates what was connected. But to repeat for those doubters. Lever plug connected to relay box rear left wheel arch only fits one way! Colour coded plugs fitted to correct recepticles only fit one way! Earth connected near battery box and cable entry from tow bar as per instructions. Two fuses fitted as per instructions where the extra services are not needed. don't want to confuse system as no 12 voltsupply take off ir fog lights fitted to trailer board. Correct parts bought from FRF and Discussed with Simon Parts were in sealed Volvo parts bags! I will as a last resort get the Volvo diagnostic done to see what is going on if anything. |

To clarify as I can't seem to edit my post.
The TRM module has two plug sockets colour coded and are different sizes so no other way to attach. |

Calm Down Rodbr - we are only trying to help - when you mentioned "trying every combination", because we are not there, I certainly couldn't visualise what you were getting at. Combination of what?
OK, I take your point you have used all the right bits and connected them all correctly. Are you still using the LED trailer board to test? I seem to recall there are 2 schools of thought on whether LED lamps will "trigger" the trailer module - ie they will or they wont. Have you tried using a regular (incandescent lamps) trailer board? Other than that, if everything is installed correctly, as I'm sure it it, then I guess the trailer module has to be faulty and you will need to discuss with FRF. BTW the reflash/download is just to make the rear fog lamp on the car go off when the trailer is connected - see attached pic from instructions. Cheers Dave Edit - Ah Ha - I was sure I'd seen this somewhere Look here https://accessories.volvocars.com/en...CC-482650/2006 Look at the bottom Note! Tried both types of trailer board.
I also spoke to FRF this morning and we have come to the conclusion that perhaps for some bizarre reason the cars brain is not talking to the TRM module. He suggested that I get a VIDA check and potential update and take it from there. Watch this space. Rod |

But that is just to tell the car if a trailer is fitted or not.
The Trailer module and/or REM uses a load detection to determine if a trailer is connected LEDs provide less electrical load than incandescent bulbs. The load detection doesn't work on LED lamps, and thus the car doesn't know if a trailer is connected. This means the car cannot deactivate the rear fog lamp, cannot deactivate the reversing sensors, and cannot activate the trailer indicator on the dash. I don't believe it has any relevance to not getting any power at all to the trailer connector.
