Default Wheel alignment?

Ok, maybe a silly question here!

I had a rear N/S blow out yesterday evening and while I was changing the wheel for the spare I noticed some serious wear to the inside edge (same on both sides) down to the wire.

The camber on both rear wheels is about 1 degree as measured with a downloaded device on my phone so not super accurate. I have not experienced any drift, travels a straight line nicely. I am going to ask them to check alignment tomorrow when I get two new tyres fitted but I was wonder if alignment is ok, what else might be the cause. Wheel feels solid when rocking top/bottom etc so I don't suspect ball joints or bearings on either side. Anything else come to mind?

Hi on the rears you can not adjust the camber, but you can adjust the toe,
so do get a 4 wheel alignment,
Dave

Thanks, Dave. Could the toe be that far out that the tyres are this bad, this quickly. Pic of tyre I took off. Three weeks (500 miles) ago was still legal!

That is bad,
was the steering wheel of centre when you was driving,
it may be some bushes need changing as well,
when you look under the car from the back at the two rear toe adjustment arms does it look bent,
has the car been lowered,
when you checked the camber on the rear was it very flat and level

You can adjust the camber on any wheel you’re not careful with. What you cannot do so easily is correct it afterwards.
Sorry for the pedantry but do not assume it’s correct just because you can’t see a way of changing it....

OK, steering wheel is off centre
Toe arms are fixed, not the adjustable type, and the NS arm is bend but the OS looks ok.

You mean you can bend it by hitting and damaging some thing,
There is No rear camber adjustment for rears,
the only way it could be out on both sides on the rear is by hitting something in the rear ore by lowering springs, a lot lower,
but I would say the rear toe is a long way out,
the rear toe adjustment toe arms can bend buy hitting a curb or a big rock,
or if some one jacked on it to fit a new tire,?

When was this tyre fitted, did they use the toe adjuster fitting as a jacking point ?
is it bent,
Dave

I don't know, Dave. I only bought the car a few weeks ago. It's bent!

Definitely looks like someone used it as a jacking point!

Hi yes it does look like that was used as jacking point,
Get one from Volvo they are about £40,
they are adjustable you adjust them by loosening the nut and turning the bolt, the one near the centre of the car, if you look there should be some marckins there, but yours is beyond that,
good you have found it,
Dave
