Default KEY (s)

I only have 1 key which includes the remote etc, thought about taking the key out of the remote and having a replica cut,but if for some reason I lose the remote or damage it, does that mean the car is Stranded ? Or would there be a way of by-passing the code ? (Hope so )

Hope that doesn’t mean you already lost it.

If you lose the remote control bit you can still use the car, but if you lose or break the transponder that’s buried in there, then you are stranded.

It isn't so much the remote as the chip associated with the key ie the remote opens/closes/activates the alarm - the transponder ring/annulus reacts to the presence of the chip within the key and permits the starter/ignition activation. You can bypass the alarm/locks/central locking & etc by unlocking the door with the key - the alarm will sound buy if you then re-lock and unlock the door with the key the alarm is deactivated - what you can't bypass without the correct chip is the ignition immobiliser - the correct chip has to be within a few cm of the ignition annulus/ring to enable both the starter and the ignition.

For what it is worth, there are a number of forum posts about taping the original key or the chip to the lock barrel inside the column shroud - ie out of sight and then using the chipless key(s) as a normal key as the immobiliser deactivating chip will be permanently providing the "1" ie OK or yes canbus signal which permits the start sequence.
