Volvo Nav System + CD Player

Does anyone know if the DVD Nav system will also "play" movie DVDs? And can the CD player play +/- RW cd's and MP3s?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere in the forums.

I don't think they play DVD video or MP3 discs at all.

I think you're right, Tek. My dealer told me the Nav system definitely does not play DVDs, even with the TV option fitted, and the CD player (HD-850) will play CD-R but not MP3.

I notice that the XC90 has other options fitted - the showroom model had a mini-disk slot as well as the CD slot in the console.

Hmmm. It seems Volvo are dragging themselves wearily into the 20th Century with this set up. Why mini-disk?

All the more surprising that the car has a fibre-optic multiplex wiring system - one of the first, I believe.

I was in Murray Volvo in Glasgow the other day and noticed a DVD player set-up and LCD monitors which fit neatly into the front headrests for rear passengers to view. Cost? Why only £3500! I'll have two please. Grossly overpriced even if it does include fitting and connected to the Volvo till/computer in Sweden to enable the thing.
