Default Is Adblue included in prepaid service?

My V60 has just had its first service after 12 months but only 7000 miles. When checking the levels on the OBC I note that whilst the oil is 100% the AdBlue is only 50%.

The service was purchased as a 3 year package when I bought the car, is Adblue not topped up in the service?

My onboard manual states that Adblue might need to be topped up between services which infers it is topped up at services?

Thanks for any info.

Back in May I had my first service, 5 year service plan, and the AdBlue was also showing about 50%. Checking the level later and it was showing 100% but I did not get billed for the top-up. My thoughts are it is probably down to dealer discretion as to wether they top up various fluids. I would think it's not classed as a service item, much like washer fluid. If you think about it, you take the car in with half a tank of diesel and would not expect them to top the tank up. On the Volvo website service page regarding AdBlue they do say they will top up, but charge about £30 last time I looked. Some dealers are better than others.

Just checked with my dealer as checking after the service it needed 1.7 gallons. They don't include it, however at £9.99 for 10 litres including useful nozzle to save spillage, it isn't too arduous.

I had never thought it was included but was confused by the owners manual warning that it "might need to be topped up between services". This implied that it might be topped up at service.

Thanks for responses.

If you top it up yourself I’d recommend going to a petrol station that has it on the pumps rather than in 10 litre drums. The pumps are usually with the HGV diesel and around 70p to £1 a litre, cheaper than the drums, easier to fill and you can get just as much as you need.
Cheers, Luke.

As Alf said, full info on Adblue is available on the link he provided, but it is fed in to diesel engines to basically reduces emissions.

If you were running low, you would get a warning much like a low fuel warning, and you would just top it up next time you filled up your fuel with a bottle bought in the filling station (or some places have pumps for it).

I THINK it was only introduced in the new (2018) XC60. (you haven't said what age your car is, what engine you have, or even if it's a diesel engine you have)

Many thanks. Mine is a 2014 d4 and 181, so sounds like it doesn't need adblu.

I don’t have this but isn’t the filler usually near the filler cap?
