Default New D5 Engine 205 bhp

Volvo have anounced a new Euro 5 D5 engine, 2.4 with sequential twin turbochargers, ceramic glow-plugs and piezoelectric fuel injectors. The result is an improved power output of 205hp and 420Nm of torque combined with low fuel emissions of 164g/km

But my D5 is running 210PS and 470NM - I fail to see the improvement

Volvo has a problem with the new V70 D5 being crap on fuel, does this go someway to improving matters?

Improved emissions also have to mean improved fuel economy, the two go very much hand in hand.

Imagine how much you can wring out of one of these when it's chipped...

Not really - just more fun. The software on mine also means the gearbox holds gears lower in the rev-range - IE shifts up earlier - a steady throttle from 1500rpm to 3500rpm in 4th is pretty brutal.

Ah, but with an upgrade this might be pushing 230HP & 500NM, all based on the power of assumption granted! But there is the possibility for further improvement no less

If the last D5 evolutionary process is anything to go by we can expect the level of performance to be increased as standard or as the 2.4D and D5 models we currently have. I'll look forward to it when I change my 185 D5 for one of these in a few years.
